Ciara Is Feeling Extra Lovey On Sultry "Ecstasy" 04/09/2025
Ciara is back once again to tease her eighth studio album with one of her steamiest tracks as of late called "Ecstasy."
Ciara has been causing fainting and Russell Wilson to crash out with her latest single, "Ecstasy." The song feels like a gift for her NFL superstar husband with its deeply sensual lyricism and directness. "So you ain't gotta ask me, daddy, if I'm feeling nasty / I been tryna hide that I want you so badly / I don't know how much more of this I can take / And you're the one to blame," she sings on the pre-chorus. It's also evident by the sexually powerful music video. From the choreography, which CiCi claims had to be done in less than two days, and suggestive dancing all feel like the Texas native is previewing what she's ready to do to her man when it's go time.
For Ciara, this is her first release of 2025, but third single in the past eight months. "Run It Up" with BossMan Dlow kicked things off back in August. That was then followed up by "Wassup" featuring fellow late 90s-early 2000s icon Busta Rhymes. She apparently has another record in the works, an eighth one, to be exact. She has yet to drop an album since 2019's Beauty Marks. However, in 2023, she shared her CiCi EP with her hit single with Chris Brown, "How We Roll." It sounds like she's been busy with her kids and her other business ventures, but hopefully, we get another LP update sooner rather than later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKMM14qvkwg

Cousin Fik, E-40, & Too $hort Link For Booty Shaking Anthem "Thangin" 04/05/2025
Cousin Fik has taken some time away from dropping music, but he's back with a club ready track featuring his boss and Too $hort.
Cousin Fik wants it to be a "suns out buns out" kind of summer this year and this new single "Thangin" should do the trick. It's the Bay Area rapper's first release of any kind in a little while. The last time we heard from the West Coast MC was back in 2022 with his In a Deep Bag project. He's been active more recently than though, but as a feature artist. He's been helping out Hitta Slim the most as of late. Overall, the 2020's decade has not seen Fik (pronounced Feek) at his most active. He really shined in the late 2000s and early 2010s when he latched onto E-40's imprint Sick Wid It Records. But he's looking to dominate the hotter months over in Cali with "Thangin" and reestablish himself.
To help him are his label boss and Oakland legend Too $hort. Overall, this track focuses on one thing and one thing only. Booty. Little ones, big ones, natural ones, BBLs, it doesn't matter. Produced by Bijan, it's got a lot of West Coast bounce to give the ladies the encouragement to shake what they got. It's minimalism allows for Cousin Fik, E-40, and Too $hort to deliver some admittedly funny and clever one liners. "You got a dump truck, Ima need a CDL." Or there's "When that thang thang, them two cheeks get together like gang gang." "Thangin" had one mission, and it succeeded. Hopefully, this signals that a new Cousin Fik album is in the works. This single would serve well on its own. But maybe this will at least inspire him to get back in the studio to end his drought of LPs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQQH79ipggQ /

Sexyy Red Makes Early Claim For Summer '25 With Luscious New Single "Hoochie Coochie" 04/04/2025
Sexyy Red's 2025 has been amazing. She has collaborated on hit songs with Bruno Mars, Gucci Mane, and PlaqueBoyMax.
Sexyy Red’s “Hoochie Coochie” is a riotous celebration of sexual agency, defiant joy, and self-mythology. Released on her 2024 mixtape In Sexyy We Trust, the track doubles down on the raw candor and Southern swagger that have become her signature. Red isn’t just performing confidence—she’s weaponizing it. She turns desire into declaration, and vulgarity into victory.
The title reaches back into American slang, evoking a term once whispered across burlesque stages and juke joints. But Red doesn’t romanticize the past—she repurposes it. “Hoochie Coochie” becomes less a nod to tradition and more a middle finger to convention. Over syrupy basslines and woozy synths, she spits with the urgency of someone who knows exactly what she wants and how she wants to say it.
There’s no irony in her raunch, and no shame in her pleasure. She toys with tone, veering between riotous humor and stone-faced dominance. Her bars are crude, but calculated. Red isn’t courting respectability or subtlety. She raps like someone raised on club anthems and reality TV—unfiltered, loud, and impossible to look away from. “Hoochie Coochie” thrives on tension: it’s funny and filthy, abrasive and catchy, cartoonish yet deliberate. It also places her squarely within the lineage of Southern rap’s most audacious voices. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfmvfInatX8

Rod Wave Reflects On His Resilient Journey To Stardom On "Sinners" 04/04/2025
Rod Wave is lending his talents for the soon-to-be-released soundtrack for Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan's new film, "Sinners."
Rod Wave has been recruited by a team behind a big movie coming out in a couple of weeks. That would be the minds behind the upcoming Sinners. It's directed by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther and Creed) and stars Michael B. Jordan. Other notable names include Hailee Steinfeld, Saul Williams, and producer, Ludwig Göransson. The latter is going to be handling the music, and he's widely recognized as one of the best in the business when it comes to composing. With on board, a soundtrack was bound to be evident. Sure enough, it is in the works. There's a good chance it will land on streaming services when Sinners premieres on April 18.
Rod Wave is now officially a part of it with this title track. The motion picture takes place in the 1930s in the Southern United States. With it going back to The Great Depression era, there's assumedly going to be a lot of talk about hardships through the lense of Black people. So, with that in mind, Rod Wave incorporated those ideas into this "Sinners" track. He does so with ease, blending the in the obstacles of the past such as slavery, to the setbacks he faces as a star musician. But like how his ancestors fought through to pave a brighter future, Rod is doing the same for himself and for those in life who need help.

Aesop Rock Is Playing Lyrical "Checkers," Not Chess On New Single/ 04/03/2025
Aesop Rock recently killed the mic via his feature on clipping.'s new album "Dead Channel Sky," and it's great to hear him again so soon.
Aesop Rock is gearing up to release his new album Black Hole Superette, a completely self-produced piece with collaborators like Armand Hammer, Lupe Fiasco, Open Mike Eagle, Homeboy Sandman, and more. That sounds like a phenomenal LP, and we just got our first taste of its greatness via the new single "Checkers." It comes shortly after Rock's latest offering, the track "Welcome Home Warrior" off the excellent new clipping. album Dead Channel Sky.
On "Checkers," Aesop Rock perfectly embodies Black Hole Superette's vision of "the invisible forces that shape our lives and psyches," per his website's description. The track's abstract wordplay about gritty topics contains the detailed rhyme schemes and references you know and love, and the Integrated Tech Solutions multi-hyphenate amps up the atmosphere with wailing synthesizers, chunky flanged guitar riffs, and simple but hard-hitting percussion hits. It feels overwhelming at times, but that's what makes the "By The River" lyricist such a compelling master of ceremonies. Most importantly, it doesn't compromise dynamism or immediacy for technical ability thanks to shifting production choices and cheeky one-liners.
With the collaborative lineup of Black Hole Superette in mind, we can't wait for Aesop Rock to bring "Catfish" vibes back with his LICE partner, the similarly masterful Homeboy Sandman. "Checkers" is a great taster that hopefully indicates this album's upcoming strength in both its pen and production. It will reportedly come out on May 30.

Roy Woods Is Falling Apart At The Seams On Despondent Single "Stay With Me/ 04/01/2025
Roy Woods is kicking off his 2025 musical run with a moody piece of Canadian R&B that perfectly pays homage to the city's sonic roots.
Roy Woods has been under Drake's wing for his entire 10-year career. He's never been able to achieve similar levels of success, but he does have plenty of natural talent. His got great vocal range and raw emotion, two qualities that are always going to be highly desirable for any contemporary R&B fan. If those are aspects you want in your music, then we highly recommend this new single from Roy, "Stay With Me." It's the soon-to-be 29-year-old's first solo release of 2025 and third overall. He's been busy with features. But this track is the definition of well-executed Canadian R&B, which Drake, The Weeknd, and Tory Lanez have all mastered.
The moody chords, lyrics about feeling alone and anxious over a girl that seemingly can't get on the same page as you... it's got it all working. This record from Roy Woods is apparently the start of what he's promising to be a jam-packed 2025. "Only the beginning..." he wrote in part on his Instagram while hyping up "Stay With Me." There's a chance that could mean another new album, or just a massive and steady stream of singles. Either way, we are eager to hear what he's got to offer for the next eight months. If he does drop an LP though, it will follow up his 2024 EP, Rolling Stone.
